Download e-books to a Nook with your library card!
To borrow e-books at the Download Library, you will need:
- A valid York Public Library card
- Access to the Internet from home or work
- Free downloadable software for your computer or e-reader.
Step 2: Download the Adobe Digital Editions app to your computer or Nook tablet (this is required to read library e-books on your Nook).
Click on the “Help?” link on the righthand side of the screen and the “Software” link on the next page. Click on Adobe Digital Editions. Select “Download Now” and then pick the appropriate ADE 2.0 installer for your computer or tablet. Once you launch the ADE software, you will be prompted to create an Adobe ID or use your existing one.
Step 3: Set your default borrowing period (7 or 14 days). Click on “Account” on the right-hand side of the Download Library homepage. Type “York Public Library”, and then enter your 14 digit account number from the back of your library card. Click on “Settings” and select “14 days” for your borrowing period. Note: If you do not choose 14 days, your books will expire in 7 days.
Step 4: Search for the e-book you want at the Download Library site (Limit: 3 ebooks at a time). When you find the title you want, click on “Borrow.” Click on “Download” and select “EPUB ebook.” Click on “Confirm & Download.” The book will download to your Nook if you have an active wifi connection.
How Long Do I Have To Read It?
Wherever you read your e-book, it is readable for either 7 or 14 days after you checked it out, depending on which option you chose.
