Homework Help---
High School Ace This is a nicely organized site. The links to reference tools in basic subjects are good but it's the "Subject Guides"  which you might find really helpful. This site boasts no advertising!

Homework Haven--Morris County NJ librarians share tips on using search engines here. We certainly agree with the following advice, though--the Internet is great, but don't forget "tree-based" info--

"Look, books have been around for 543 years, since Gutenberg's Bible. Books are good, books are useful. Sometimes they are better and faster than the Internet. If you haven't found what you need on the Net in 20 minutes its time to rethink your attack or grab a good book. The web, for instance, is not a great source for literary criticism and analysis of dead authors. It is good for something like global warming or disappearing whales."

Most important--if you really get stumped, come to the York Library and ask a real live librarian for help--we are great info detectives!

A+ Research and Writing, this offering from the Internet Public Library will help you organize and research those all-important papers. There's a step-by step tutorial that outlines the whole process of writing a paper, from choosing your topic to citing your sources.  If you are new to this process, this is a "must see" Internet site!

The Online Literary Criticism Collection is brought to you by the Internet Public Library. You'll find high-quality links to information about authors from all over the world.

Spark Notes Online Study Guides -- SparkNotes is a collection of summaries of more than 75 works of English and American literature, written for a fee by a dozen Harvard students. Please note: Parts of this site may be accessed only after you register as a member.  At this time (4/25/02), membership is free, though there are many "pop-up" ads.

Citation Styles for Research Papers -- Construct your bibliography correctly the first time!

Slate Citation Machine--A "Works cited" program--you fill in the information, click Process, and the proper format is displayed, ready for you to copy and paste into your bibliography
