Volunteers, friends and supporters

The Volunteers of the York Public Library work actively to support many of the programs and services offered by the library. Some of the tasks volunteers perform as part of the library operations include: re-shelving borrowed materials; shelf-reading (checking the shelves to be sure the materials are in proper order, so they can be found by patrons); assisting with collection maintenance by pulling least used materials for consideration by librarians; processing interlibrary loans; assisting with children's activities. Specially trained volunteers help with covering and processing of materials and minor book repair. Volunteers also serve on many library committees helping with programming, events, and children's activities. Spring and fall cleanup days are done with volunteers - many from the York Rotary Club and York High School Interact Service Club. If interested in volunteering or supporting the library contact Frank Dehler, Public Services and Circulation Librarian, at 363-2818.

Currently the Volunteers and supporters organize The Book Nook throughout the year and a huge Book Sale each summer.
